ZTE MF905 WiFi Hotspot in Car Review

The ZTE VFi MF905 was first presented to public since last year, but it seems very few network provider had introduced this product to their data plan. Today, we get the ZTE MF905 Mobile WiFi Hotspot and it’s unbranded.

ZTE MF905 VFI

However, unlike its competitor Huawei E8377 CarFi, the MF905 MiFi has two parts. More specifically, the ZTE MF905 is only a small WiFi hotspot like Huawei E5331 but much smaller. If you want to use the ZTE MF905 in a car, you must get the cigarette charger base and plug the ZTE MF905 into the base. Then they would work together to provide wireless network in a car. There are 4 interfaces for power supply at the bottom of ZTE MF905 body. The interfaces would be suitable for the base.

ZTE MF905 VFI

If you don’t use the ZTE MF905 in a car, you can pull out the MF905 and it can get power supply through a USB cable which is included in the package. Of course, you can plug a SIM card into the MF905 and with power supply, you can get wireless network from this MF905.

ZTE MF905 VFI

On the front of ZTE MF905, there are 4 indicators for power, WiFi, signal strength and message. The power button is just in the middle of the 4 indicators. Below them is the ZTE logo. The front cover can be removed and after removed, we can see the SIM card slot. And the Reset hole is around the power button. But there is no slot for Micro SD card.

ZTE MF905 VFI

At the bottom of the ZTE MF905, there is a label showing the information:

Model number: ZTE MF905

ZTE MF905 VFI

ZTE MF905 could support the LTE Category 4 with peak download speed to 150mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps. Up to 8 wireless users could connect to MF905 and surf simultaneously. ZTE MF905 could support the 802.11 b/g/n/ac standard and it could be managed by APP through mobile phones.

ZTE MF905 VFI

The cigarette charger base can work well with MF905. Besides the power supply, there is also one USB port to charge other electric devices such as smartphones, Pads. On the cigarette body, there is also a label showing the information:

ZTE MF905 VFI

MF905 Especially for Car

Input: 12 – 2A

Output: 5V — 2.5A

USB Output: 5V — 1A

ZTE MF905 VFI

The two parts are packed in respective boxes. If you will use the ZTE MF905 in a car, don’t forget to get the cigarette base to let them work together. Otherwise, you need connect USB cable with the MF905 to work as a common mobile hotspot.

ZTE MF905 VFI

Conclusion

The ZTE MF905 is cool in black and the function is very practical with high LTE download speed support for up to 8 users. But the division of the two parts may not be a good design because the upper part of MF905 doesn’t have an insert battery, so if you want it work independently; you must keep it connected with the USB power adapter through the USB cable. It can’t work like a mobile pocket WiFi hotspot unless you let it work with a power bank. On this point, the Huawei E8377 may be more professional for a car.

Test of TP-Link Archer MR200 4G Router

The TP-Link Archer MR200 Router is a feature-rich router built to maximize performance in your mobile broadband. We had a simple test to show more about TP-link MR200 router.

TP-Link Archer MR200 is a desktop 4G router. Unlike the Netgear AirCard 810 Mobile Hotspot we tested recently, Archer MR200 is not a router you can take to town (unless you know you’ll be near an electrical outlet). It is relatively large and clumsy and has no rechargeable battery. Instead, it is supposed to be used indoor where the router can get continuous power supply and then the broadband connection would be done quickly and easily.

It is also there, in a poor reception reception, the TP-Link Archer MR200 is supposed to show its strength, as it is equipped with a pair of solid external antennas to enhance the 4g reception.

User-friendly and feature-rich

Getting Started with TP-Link the Archer MR200 is really friendly. Just plug in with the 4G SIM card, turn on the router, enter the preset password that is written on the bottom of the router and start surfing.

When it is time to configure the 4g LTE router, this appears to be as easy and smooth as the installation itself. The interface is exemplary quickly, easily and clearly, even when we enter the more advanced settings.

Despite its rather simple exterior, the TP-Link Archer MR200 proves to be a truly functional and configurable router. Here it is in the top layer compared with competitors in the market.

Reception Good

Initially, the TP-Link Archer MR200 manages well in our performance tests. Reception is normal under normal conditions. The connection is always stable during the time we tested it. The WiFi results are slightly better. Here, the TP-Link Archer MR200 puts itself in the top level. The same good results goes for range tests, the TP-Link Archer MR200 gets good values and performed better than most of tested routers.

But when we come to what will be the strength of TP-Link Archer MR200, the reception under difficult conditions, we will be a little bit disappointed. Instead of getting to the top, the TP-Link Archer MR200 turns out to be worse than the average. In fact, the TP-Link Archer MR200 is far below the newly tested mobile router Netgear AirCard 810. If you are located at somewhere with bad signal, you’d better choose a wireless router with connectors for external outdoor LTE antenna, which may help the router to get better 4G/LTE network, so you will enjoy the fastest possible network.

Conclusion

TP-Link Archer MR200 is not a bad router, but does not do all as what we expect from a powerful 4G router. When the router work in good network condition, it performs good, but if in bad condition areas, it has much space to improve to shorten the distance to its competitors. There are many similar 4G routers on the market that are more affordable than this one such as Huawei E5186, ZTE MF286 etc. At last, we have a look at the basic features of TP-link Archer Mr200:

Difference between Huawei E5786 and E5885

It has been months since the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 was released to market and we had introduced this new 4G router in details. If you had used the Huawei first LTE cat6 mobile router, you may know the Huawei E5786 4G hotspot. Today, we will have a look at what’s the difference between the Huawei E5885 and E5786.

Appearance

As we introduced before, the Huawei E5885(available model called E5885Ls-93a) follows the design of the Huawei E5770 Mobile WiFi Pro. On the front upper side, there is only a small screen to show connection information. The upper side is made of plastic but looks cool, the below part is made of high quality leather, which makes it feels very good in hand. Huawei logo is on the leather.  The whole body of Huawei E5786 is made of plastic, but it also feels good and slippery. The Huawei logo and power button are located at each side of the screen of E5786.

On the back of Huawei E5786, there is Huawei logo with “mobile WiFi”. The Huawei E5885 back has Huawei logo and words “CAT6/6400mAh/23Wh” which indicates the mobile router is a LTE Category 6 mobile hotspot with 6400mAh battery for 23 hours working time.

HUAWEI E5885Ls-93a Mobile WiFi Pro 2 back logo

The Huawei E5885 power and WPS button are located at the top edge. Between them, the Output and input USB ports, and the Ethernet port are covered by a small cap. The Huawei E5786 has a menu button on the top edge and USB port is at the opposite side.

Huawei E5786 back logo

The back cover of Huawei E5885 and E5786 can be opened. In the Huawei E5885, we can see the SIM card slot and Micro SD card slot are located, where there is a reset button in red. Below is a label with the model number, IMEI number, SSID, WiFi key, IP address, user name and password. One QR code is also included so as to scan and connect. The Huawei E5786 also has the SIM card and MicroSD card slot lying together. What’s more, two TS-9 connectors for external antennas are covered by a cap. However, there is no antenna connector in Huawei E5885.

HUAWEI E5885Ls-93a Mobile WiFi Pro 2 sim card slot and sd card slot

Technical Specifications

The Huawei E5885 and E5786 are both LTE cat6 mobile hotspot which could support LTE download speed up to 300Mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps. They both provide variants for different carriers and various LTE frequency bands. The WLAN standard supports latest 802.11ac with dual band. Huawei E5786 could support up to 10 wireless devices to access internet through WiFi while the latest Huawei E5885 supports maximum up to 32 users. They both use the Micro SIM card. The Huawei E5885 provides one more connection by Ethernet cable while Huawei E5786 can only keep connected with SIM card.

Huawei E5786 antenna connectors

Battery

The back cover of the Huawei E5786 and E5885 can be opened, but the battery of them can’t be removed for change. The battery of Huawei E5786 is 3000mAh, which can keep working for 10 hours. While the Huawei E5885 has larger battery of 6400mAh, which would provide 23 hours working time. They both can charge other electric devices as a mobile power bank. However, the Huawei E5786 needs an accessory call AF18 adapter to make this function true. The Huawei E5885 can directly charge other devices without any problem.

What’s more, the Huawei E5885 has a special USB cable with the device. The USB cable can be used as a lifting rope, which is really a smart and practical design. The Huawei E5786 uses the normal USB 2.0 cable for charging.

HUAWEI E5885Ls-93a Mobile WiFi Pro 2 USB Cable

From the comparison, we think there is no doubt that the latest Huawei E5885 is much better than the E5786, ont only on the design but also the practical functions. So if you are looking for a wonderful mobile hotspot, we think Huawei E5885 is good to recommend.

ZTE UFi MF980 VS UFi MF970

With the upgrade of LTE network to LTE Advanced or Advanced PRO, the vendors are also trying to upgrade their wireless gadgets so as to meet the market demand. As we introduced the ZTE MF970 UFi last year, ZTE presented a new 4G LTE Router ZTE UFi MF980 as a successor. In this article, we will see what has been improved on the new ZTE MF980 UFi comparing to ZTE MF970.

Appearance

As we showed the images, ZTE MF970 UFi is in white color and the screen is on the middle of front with “ZTE” and “UFi” listed at each side of the 1.44 inch screen. Following this design, ZTE MF980 UFi also has a 1.44 inch screen and the same two words ZTE and UFi, but MF980 is in black color. But ZTE MF980 is thinner than MF970 and has long body.

ZTE MF980 has power and func button on the top edge, which is same to ZTE MF970, but the SIM card slot is also with the two buttons in MF970, while the SIM card slot is at the opposite edge in ZTE MF980. The two connectors for external antenna for ZTE MF980 are located together while the MF970 has two connectors located at each side of the USB 2.0 port, where ZTE UFi MF980 has USB3.0 port. On the back, UFi MF980 has ZTE logo on while the MF970 shows some information about certificate for CE, WiFi and RoHS.

Technical Specifications

As we introduced before, the ZTE UFi MF970 is a LTE Category 6 mobile router which could support peak download speed to 300mbps and upload speed to 50mbps. In real product, it may be the Vodafone R226 or R226Z model. As the upgraded model for LTE advanced network, ZTE MF980 UFi supports LTE category 9 technologies and peak download speed to 450Mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps. They both support the common LTE FDD & TDD networks with 3G UMTS and 2G GSM networks backward. On this point, there is no doubt that ZTE MF980 UFi is more powerful than ZTE MF970 if working on LTE-A networks.

ZTE UFi MF970 could support up 14 wireless terminals to access internet when working with a valid SIM card, while the new MF980 UFi can support almost double of the qty to 32 WiFi-enabled devices. They both provide the WLAN standard to latest 802.11 ac with dual-band.

Battery

Like Huawei E5786 4G Mobile Hotspot, the ZTE MF970 and MF980 are both with the built-in battery, which can’t be removed for change. One question that we don’t understand is that the newer model ZTE UFi MF980 has battery capacity to 2200mAh when the predecessor MF970 has larger battery to 2300mAh. Many of the current 4G mobile router with same level are with 3000mAh battery or even more. What frustrating is the battery can’t be removed for backup battery. So if you would keep them working for long time, you’d better to take a bank power with large capacity. On this point, the latest Huawei E5885Ls-93a seems more powerful with LTE-A support and built-in large battery.

Summary

There is no doubt that the ZTE MF980 UFi is powerful on technical features, especially working on LTE advanced Pro networks for multiple users with group activities. But the decent battery would limit its long term performance. ZTE MF970 UFi is also good if you don’t quite need the LTE advanced pro network and just need a budget mobile pocket router. After reviewing the two ZTE LTE UFi, which one will you buy?

Huawei E5885 LTE Mobile WiFi Pro 2 Available

Huawei recently introduced a new 4G Mobile router as a successor to the popular Huawei E5770 Mobile WiFi Pro Hotspot: the Huawei E5885 (Mobile WiFi Pro2). The LTE router offers a 6,400 mAh strong battery, which is to allow up to 25 hours of operating time and, of course, besides the usual WLAN, an RJ45 LAN connection is again available. The integrated LTE modem is twice as fast as the predecessor with up to 300 MBit/s for download. The Huawei E5885 is only available in Asia now. In Europe, the device is only yet available.

LTE Cat6

The E5885Ls-93a version, which is currently available in the online market, is intended for the Asian market. Most of the packaging is labeled in Chinese or English and the supported frequency bands mainly take into account the Asian needs. Nevertheless, according to the data sheet from Huawei, the Huawei E5885 also supports all LTE frequency bands (volume 3, 7, 8, 20) which are important for Europe areas. Also UMTS on 2100/900 MHz and GSM network are supported.

In comparison to the predecessor Huawei E5770, the speed is also important to note: the support of LTE category 6, ie up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 150 MBit/s in the uplink. LTE Cat6 with channel bundling (Carrier Aggregation) is now used by many network operators and therefore one should notice the improved modem in some situations. However, it is not particularly advanced, because the Netgear AC810 LTE Hotspots have been available for long time, which can reach 600 MBit/s (LTE Cat12) for download.

RJ45 LAN & WLAN

The Huawei E5885Ls-93a is particularly interesting because it offers a full RJ45 LAN connection. This allows devices without WLAN to be connected to the network without any problems, without the need for additional software, as well as to use the Ethernet port for Internet access and to use the E5885 as a WLAN hotspot without mobile radio. Something strange, however, appears the fact that the connection is a “normal” 100 Mbps LAN connection, where the LTE modem can use up to 300 MBit/s.

If you want to use the full modem speed, then must be forced on Wi-Fi. According to Huawei, up to 32 devices can be supplied simultaneously with the Internet, the speed should be better thanks to 802.11ac standard (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) in the best case than over LAN.

Large battery

Another unique feature of the Huawei E5885 Mobile WiFi Pro2 is the huge 6.400 mAh battery. Up to 25 hours of operating time should be possible. As an alternative to the predecessor, the device can be used as a power bank, for which a corresponding charging cable is already included in the package box.

Summary

Huawei E5885 is a good mobile 4G Router with powerful function for multiple situations. It’s cool in appearance and supports LTE advanced network. When Huawei presents the English versions for global market, we suppose it would be great gadget star in future.

Difference between ZTE UFi MF980 and Netgear Aircard 810s

Since more and more network providers deployed LTE advanced networks, many vendors over the world are providing new LTE gadgets to support the latest new LTE networks. The US vendor Netgear Wireless and Chinese vendor ZTE are two of them. Netgear presents the Aircard 810s with support of LTE Category 11 and ZTE provides the UFi MF980 with support of LTE Category 9. In this article, we will check what the difference is between the two mobile 4G Routers.

Appearance

The Netgear Aircard 810s has a 2.44 inch LCD touchscreen, user can do simple settings like operating a smartphone. However, the ZTE MF980 UFi’s 1.44 inch TFT screen is not a touchscreen, so it can be operated by the power and func button, web interface or by ZTELink APP. Of course, the Aircard 810s could also be operated from web interface and Netgear aircard APP. The ZTE UFi MF980 is very thinner than Netgear Aircard 810s, so the feel in hand is better.

They both have two connectors for external LTE antennas and the connector type is TS-9. The connectors in Aircard 810s are located at the two sides of the USB ports with small caps, while the connectors of ZTE MF980 are together. And they both use Micro SIM.

Battery

The battery of Aircard 810s is removable and the SIM card slot is in the battery slot. The battery capacity is 2930mAh, which could support 11 hours for continuous use. The battery of ZTE MF980 UFi is built-in and can’t be removed. And its battery is 2200mAh, which is enough for daily use, but can’t be changed to backup battery. But they both don’t have slot for Micro SD card.

Technical Specifications

With Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 chipset and the support of LTE Category 11, Netgear Aircard 810s could support peak download speed to 600mbps. ZTE UFi MF980 could achieve download speed to 450mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps with the support of LTE Category 9.

Netgear Aircard 810s could connect up to 15 wireless users simultaneously while ZTE UFi MF980 could support up to 32 wireless users to access internet, on this point, ZTE UFi MF980 seems more powerful than Aircard 810s. Regarding the WLAN feature, they could support latest Wi-Fi 802.11ac with 2 X 2 MIMO on dual band(2.4GHz and 5GHz).

Other feature

The Netgear Aircard 810s has an extra function called Jump Boost, which makes it could work like a mobile power bank to charge other electric devices such as smartphone, Pads etc..ZTE MF980 UFi doesn’t have this function per the official description.

Conclusion

Comparing the features and specifications of the Netgear Aircard 810s and ZTE UFi MF980, it’s not doubt that Aircard 810s is better than ZTE MF980. With higher configuration, Netgear Aircard 810s can provide better performance for internet connection, but price would be higher. ZTE MF980 UFi is also good for most users with budget price. But the built-in battery may not be a good feature if you want it to work for long time.

Actually, there are many more 4G Routers for LTE advanced networks, if you want to check more devices, welcome to check on www.4gltemall.com .

ZTE MF980 4G Mobile Router Test

With the LTE network evolving to LTE-Advanced, more and more LTE gadgets are needed to support the advanced network so as to meet the requirements from end-users for faster internet speed. ZTE MF980, also named ZTE UFi MF980, is one of the new gadgets.

We got the ZTE MF980 4G mobile router for a couple of weeks and today we have time to take a test for this new LTE router. It’s in black color but much thinner than current popular models such as Huawei E5786 and Mobile WiFi Pro 2 E5885.

Appearance

The ZTE MF980 has a 1.44inch screen, but not like the high-end 4G LTE-A mobile hotspots from Netgear such as Aircard 790s and Aircard 810s, it’s not a touch screen. The ZTE and UFi are listed at two sides of the screen. On top edge, the power button and func button are there with a reset hole. At the opposite edge, two connectors for external 4G Antennas are covered by a small cap. The USB3.0 port is at the middle of the edge while the right side is SIM card slot. It uses Micro SIM. On the back of the ZTE UFi, there is only ZTE Logo. The back cover is not tight with the whole body, which makes you think it could be removed, but we tried, the back cover can’t be removed. So the battery is built-in and can’t be changed.

Operation

Long press the power button for 3 seconds on the top edge, the ZTE UFi MF980 will start working. The screen will show the signal bars, network provider’s name, users quantity connected from WiFi, battery status and the consumed data. For simple setup, users need to press the FUNC button to switch menu and power button to confirm.

In the simple menu, we can see it includes Data Connection, Device Info, WiFi QR Code, WPS, Global Roaming, Quick Boot. Click FUNC to next and click Power button to OK. Users can click to connect the data, and scan the QR code to connect to the router with the ZTELink APP. No more setup is allowed through the two buttons on ZTE UFi. If you want do more settings, you need log in the web page http://ufi.ztedevice.com or 192.168.0.1. Firstly, you need connect the WiFi from ZTE MF980 and enter WiFi key. When log in the web UI, the default password is admin. And there is PC and Mobile option per user preference.

On the head of the web page, user can shutdown the device, modify login password and logout by one click. Two languages are available: English and Chinese. In the middle of the page, there is a switch button to on and off LTE connection. Below is the setting button to click and enter into the setting options. Users can setup the connection by adding new APN, select preferred network (four options: 4G only, 3G only, 2G only and Automatic).

There are more options to setup the WiFi, user can setup the SSID name, security mode and password. If necessary, user can also enable the Guest SSID and WPS. In the WiFi advanced settings, user can select the WiFi band (2.4GHz and 5GHz available), Network mode (two options: 802.11b/g/n and 802.11 n only), Channel Bandwidth(20MHz/40MHz or 20MHz) and frequency channel. User can also select the country if necessary.

In the Advanced Settings, user can setup the power-save mode by choosing the WiFi coverage distance and WiFi Sleep time. And the router settings allow user to setup the IP address and DHCP. There are also options for firewall settings, such as Port filtering, Port mapping, UPnP and DMZ. User can also setup the firmware update check and reset or restart the router manually.

All setting for the ZTE MF980 UFI is very simple but important if you need them. User can also do the setting through the ZTELink APP, but has to install the APP in the smartphone first. We didn’t take the speed test this time, we will do the speed test by comparing it with the latest Netgear Nighthawk M1 MR1100 in following weeks and will provide full report after test. You can follow us for coming testing report.

ZTE MF910 4G Mobile Router Test

Many people are demanding higher speed for internet connection, even when they are on the go for vacation. If the LTE network is available, user just need a reliable mobile WiFi router to fulfill this. The ZTE MiFi router MF910 would do this job well for a good network partner.

ZTE MF910

The model ZTE MF910 is the big brother of our previously tested model ZTE MF65+. It offers the same features, but it is faster and more durable. Hard data: the MF910 gadget can be used continuously for 8 hours downloading data at speeds up to 150Mbit/s, in standby mode, it can withstand almost a week, and the maximum use of its services may as many as 14 other devices.

ZTE MF910

The manufacturer does not provide any information on the overstatement. ZTE MF910 battery in fact it is difficult to unload. Internet speed is of course dependent on the extent and network environment. The router I tested using a SIM from Plus network. Even outside the city to check it perfectly, even when the coverage rate on small but readable screen does not show the five bars. Without any problems I could browse mail, Facebook, portals and watch the video on YouTube.

ZTE MF910

I was surprised how well I downloaded from the Internet file weighs about 500 MB. In fact, I did not feel the difference in speed compared with that to which I am accustomed when I use the network in your own home.

There is no any problem regarding the hardware configuration. Comparing with the ZTE MF65+ MiFi, it should be the biggest advantages of this router. Just turn the whole holding down one button. That’s enough to be able to enjoy access to the Internet. All the smartphones and tablets that “paired” with the MF910 did not have any problems with that hardware. I can only complain to the location of the SIM card slot. It is devilishly difficult to correctly add to the router.

ZTE MF910

The whole body weighs 106g and the size is similar to a candy package (65x 14.6 x 104 mm). It’s a little larger than the ZTE MF65+ caliber, but still there is nothing to prevent the router to throw in a bag or backpack, or put it in his jacket pocket.

ZTE MF910

ZTE MF910 MiFi is equipment that meets all the expectations from customer. It will provide high-speed internet in both the cottage and will save you and your closest collaborators, when the company’s network will refuse to obey. If you are looking for a good partner for outdoor activities, ZTE MF910 is highly recommended. The most important, the price is aggressive for most users.

ZTE MF910

ZTE MF980 4G LTE Category 9 Mobile Hotspot

With the development of the LTE technology and deployment of LTE-advanced networks, the manufacturer offer new 4G mobile gadgets to meet the market required. The ZTE MF980 Hotspot is a 4G mobile hotspot that offers LTE Category 9 carrier aggregation technology. The specifications for ZTE MF980 makes it’s dominates in the mobile hotspos in the market.

Technical Specifications

This 3-band technology allows reach a download speed of 450 Mbps and 50 Mbps in upload. The bands supported in FDD are: B1 / B3 / B5 (26) / B7 / B8 / B20 / B28 / B32

For Europe area, the bands that concern in 4G are therefore B3, B7, B20 but also the B28 which supports the 700 MHz of Free Mobile.

For the rest the supported bands are:
* TDD-LTE: B40 (or B38 or B41)
* UMTS: B1 / B5 / B8 / B2
* GSM: 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz

A fairly wide coverage therefore, makes the ZTE MF980 mobile hotspot a good partner for traveling. We do not have exactly the carrier aggregation of supported 3 bands, but we remain optimistic for a support in France (B20 + B7 + B3 or B28 + B7 + B20).

ZTE MF980 back

Wireless Features

The ZTE MF980 also offers Wi-Fi 802.11 ac running dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz simultaneously. And up to 32 users can connect to the MF980 hotspot for internet access. It is of course also compatible with the 802.11b/g/n and it also offers a 2 × 2 MIMO technology.

The 1.44-inch color TFT screen allows you to view the usual information such as the operator, connection type and level, battery level, number of users connected and data consumption.

ZTE MF980 power button

The ZTE MF980 is small enough to fit easily in the pocket or in a bag. What’s more, it has 2 connectors for external antennas, which makes it possible to connect external antenna to improve the signal strength so as to get faster surfing speed. The connector type is TS-9, we recommend below the external antenna for ZTE MF980 mobile hotspot: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-ts-9-connector.html

4G LTE Indoor Antenna (2 x TS-9 Connectors) for Huawei/ZTE 4G LTE Modems/dongles/mobile hotspots

It has a micro-USB port and a slot for micro-SIM. Equipped with a 2200 mAh battery, it can keep working for up to 10 hours according to the manufacturer. It is compatible with the Android application (or IOS) ZTELink APP.

Summary

With the support of LTE Cat.9 and 3 band carrier aggregation, ZTE MF980 supports fast download speed to 450Mbps while currently the LTE Cat.6 up to 300Mbps is the mainstream. Up to 32 wireless users could access internet with the ZTE MF980 and large battery of 2200mAh, which makes MF980 a powerful partner for outdoor activities. The possibility of connecting external antenna and control via ZTELINK app is also very useful for operation.

ZTE MF980 USB port

Actually, there are many LTE cat.9 and cat.11 mobile hotspots in the market now, such as the Netgear Aircard 810s hotspot etc. They already get great fame from the end-users. We suppose the ZTE MF980 would also be a good star for LTE-A networks.

Netgear has confirmed the distribution of Nighthawk M1 in Europe from mid 2017. It is obvious that many European operators will not be ready to deliver Gigabit on their networks, but as stated above, things are progressing.

Nevertheless, the Netgear M1 has many advantages and can, in the meantime, work on aggregated networks of carriers that deliver high speeds, pending the 1 Gbps.

The Netgear M1 implements several technologies, starting with the aggregation of 4 carriers, a 4X4 MIMO technology, and a QAM-256 modulation. Here now, this Nighthawk M1 router will only be used on the 4G LTE network of the Australian operator TELSTRA, which has an operational network for this technology. Moreover, the development and testing of the product were carried out by TELSTRA in association with ERICSSON and NETGEAR. Of course, this equipment will be distributed in other regions as soon as the operator networks are able to implement this type of transmission.

If a fixed broadband brings an Internet connection in the houses, which can’t provide network support outdoor, The Netgear M1 Nighthawk will not make you disappointed because it’s equipped with a battery of 5000 mAh offering continuous working time up to 24 hours. You can take the Netgear M1 for outdoor activities or business travel. The battery can work like a mobile power bank as an emergency backup to a mobile device such as a smartphone if necessary. It should be noted that this battery is removable, which makes it possible to replace it and therefore to dispose of a charged one beforehand for the displacements.

It offers a WiFi 802.11ac standard on dual-Band 2.4GHz/5GHz. The Nighthawk M1 can support up to 20 simultaneously connected clients. It also has a Micro SD card slot, for storing and sharing media. Finally, its Ethernet port offers the possibility to connect it to equipment such as switches for example, to redistribute the link to peripherals with wired link. This features are very similar to the latest Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 E5885.

As you can see, connectivity is important for this router, which can accommodate many devices such as NAS, printers, USB devices. A 2.4 “LCD display is present on the top and gives all the connectivity and bit rate information.

On the network side, therefore, the Netgear M1 proposes a LTE-A link of category 16 using an aggregation of 4 carriers (4X4 MIMO) for a theoretical maximum rate of 1Gbps in download and 150 Mbps in upload.

Below are the supported frequency bands (at least for this Australian Telstra version):

* 4G/LTE: 700/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz
* 3G UMTS/WCDMA:  850/900/1900/2100 MHz

The covered frequency bands make it use in almost all the areas over the world. But user have to unlock the Netgear M1 and then travel to other countries or areas. The dimensions of the M1 Nighthawk are 105,5 × 105,5 x 20,35 mm with a weight of 240 grams.

Summary

This high performance 4G router is very well equipped, and offers the latest technology and has a really rich connectivity. With the functions of a fixed use for an underserved area in high flow rates, or for mobile use in any desired situation, the Netgear Nighthawk M1 seems to be the perfect 4G routers and we look forward to testing it fully.
