What’s the Difference between Huawei E5787 and E5786?

A few weeks ago, Huawei’s first 4G mobile hotspot with touch screen is available in Saudi Arabia. The name is Huawei Mobile WiFi Touch, and model number is E5787, which is the second LTE Cat6 mobile pocket router from Huawei. If you are familiar with Huawei E5 mobile WiFi, you may know the first LTE Cat6 hotspot is E5876.Here comes a question: what’s the difference between Huawei E5786 and E5787? Today, we will have a talk about this.

 Huawei-E5786 VS Huawei E5787

Appearance

The body of E5787 and E5786 looks similar, but it’s no doubt that the touch screen of Huawei E5787 is a big selling point. In the predecessors of Huawei E5 series mobile WiFi, there is not a mobile router which has a 2.4inch touch acreen like E5787. The E5786 has a small screen only to show the connection status. But the E5787 can be operated through the 2.4 inch touchscreen. And the E5787 feels better and much slimmer than E5786 due to the thinner body.

Chipset

Both the Huawei E5787 and E5786 are based on the Huawei Hisilicon chipset, but Huawei E5787 is using the latest one, which is a powerful 28 nm HPM Coretx A9 processor. The chipset could support the screen and LTE-advanced network very well.

Technical specifications

Both the Huawei E5786 and E5787 are based on the LTE-Advanced technology on LTE Category 6, they can achieve peak download speed up to 300Mbit/s and upload speed to 50Mbit/s on the perfect networking. In practice, user may not get the speed due to weak signal or internet congestion etc…

Multiple WiFi terminals could get connected with E5786 and E5787 through WiFi, the maximum connected users could be 10 units. The WiFi is working on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, which is great for most situations.

HUAWEI E5786 Speed

Here now there are three variants for Huawei E5786, including E5786s-32a, E5786s-62a, E5786s-63a. They support different combination of LTE frequency bands for different network providers in areas. Here now the Huawei E5787 has only the sub-model E5787s-33a. But we believe there will be more variants available in many markets such as Europe and Asia.

Color

There are only two colors for Huawei E5786: black and white. But there Huawei E5787 provides more options: there is gold color except that black and white.

Huawei E5878 E5878s-33a (5)

Battery

The battery of Huawei E5786 MiFi is built-in, which means users cannot remove to change a new one, but the battery of E5787 MiFi is removable and changeable. The battery capacity of Huawei E5787 is 3000mAh, and it could support the device keep working for 12 hours per the official sayings even with the touch screen. To make the E5787 work longer time, a new chipset is inserted to reduce the consumption of power and extend the working time. The Huawei E5786 also has a battery of 3000mAh, and the working time is around 10 hours. But the thickness of Huawei E5787 is only half of that of E5786.

huawei e5786 mobile wifi app

Operation

Both the Huawei E5787 and E5786 can be operated via the web interface. And user can also download the Huawei Mobile WiFi app to manage them. But Huawei E5787 has a touch screen, so user can also setup or configure the settings via the touch screen.

Summary

Huawei E5787 and E5786 are very similar in the technical features, but Huawei E5787 seems more attractive due to the touch screen, which is more user-friendly to do the settings. They are both very good 4G pocket WiFi to recommend for latest network.

Huawei Released a New P9 Plus Smartphone

With so many great phones on the market in all price ranges, it’s now much easier to buy a mobile smartphone then past years. However, it is more challenging than ever to be a mobile manufacturer. What are customers really want? This drives the Chinese manufacturer Huawei hard, and Huawei presents new smartphone time to time to meet the requirements from customers. Now Huawei released Huawei P9 with P9 Plus. We tested exactly new Huawei P9, but now we will look into the P9 Plus.

Huawei P9 Plus (5)

The difference between the two phones is significantly larger than its name would suggest. Like all Plus models, the P9 Plus also has larger screen than “original”, but it is not the only difference between the two phones. Huawei P9 Plus model also has an AMOLED display instead of LCD IPS which is found in the smaller edition.

However, in real use, we can’t notice much difference. The solution is similar, and both phones are doing okay with Full HD. We would like to see even sharper performance, and the black levels are perhaps even better on AMOLED variety.

Huawei P9 Plus (3)

What we notice is the design. The standard version of P9 comes in aluminum with light or dark. It’s pretty enough, and looks like the market is dominated by metal phones. Frankly speaking, Huawei P9 Plus is probably the prettiest phone I’ve seen.

Phones are becoming increasingly interesting on designs, whether Edge screens from Samsung, or the completely borderless screens on Sharp phones. The usual square has become a bit boring. P9 Plus is extremely thin, but weighs a little in hand. It has big screen, but is compact in hand. And the dual cameras on the back, as well as the narrow scope, which makes it little doubt that this is a new phone.

Huawei P9 Plus (7)

When we tested  Apple’s iPhone 6S last time, we got acquainted with the touch screen in the Apple universe called 3D Touch. Huawei has had a similar solution in their Huawei Mate S mobile phone for the Asian markets. We see clearly that there is benefit in this, or at least it can be. In sections what Huawei has added support for the solution seems both intuitive and clean. But it is far from objects that support additional hard pressure.

Huawei P9 Plus (6)

In most cases, the default browser is Google’s own Chrome for Android. When Samsung enclose the good old Android browser full of what they regard as their own improvements, there is no specific browser in Huawei P9 models. Now there are many changes that the manufacturers make to these browsers actually to make the user experience better, but the result of running a completely standard Chrome variant is that the touch screen does not have the full function in the browser. The function is straightforward where it works, but unlike the iPhone, it becomes too far from these places that we perceive it as a major advantage.

Huawei P9 Plus (4)

You will not find APP menus here, and the P9 Plus phone has different menu structure from many other Android phones both in setting menus and drop-down menus. It is still not difficult to use, and we have not noticed many bad translations venues throughout. Most are intuitive and nice.

In summary, Huawei P9 plus is a good smartphone but not perfect. It has all the features that can be expected and it’s a middle class smartphone for huawei new strategy. Whether the Huawei P9 Plus becomes a success, the market will tell.

Huawei P9 Plus (1)

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review

This year, Huawei unveiled two devices in the P-series, including the P9 as well as its larger version (P9 Plus). In this article I’ll tell you about Huawei P9, and talk about the Plus in the nearby material, to avoid confusion.

Huawei P9 (9)

Design, body materials, assembly

If you look at the new Huawei P9, you cannot find the differences from last year’s Huawei P8. In fact, here is of course difference. Hull shape is unchanged, but the front panel is now covered by a protective glass with the effect of 2.5D. “The back” and the sidewall is made of the metal, plastic is used only around the main camera and flash. We can say that the design of Huawei P9 chose the path of least resistance – took quite successful P8 and updated it with new fashion trends.

Huawei P9 (10)

Dimensions of the P9 are excellent with diagonal screen 5.2 inch, and the smartphone is convenient in terms of screen size, and body width comfortable in terms of grip. In my opinion, the format 5 ‘- 5.5’ ‘will remain optimal for at least another year.

The quality of the build is excellent even in the pre-production sample, I do not think to start selling there will be some problems.

cew6J21nmXVp

Controls

As part of the management of the new P9, there is no different from last year’s model P8. In the lower area of the display, there are the onscreen touch keys. On the left edge, there are two NANO SIM trays or a “Sim” and microSD memory cards (combined) slot. On the right, the volume buttons and the power button are there.

Huawei P9 (1)

At the bottom end, the 3.5 mm mini-jack, loudspeaker, microphone and connector USB Type-C are in a line. As you can see, the Chinese manufacturers seem to express their solidarity with each other and begin to promote the new connector, one after another. The fingerprint sensor of Huawei P9 is located in the back, it’s below the cameras.

Huawei P9 (6)

Screen

The Huawei P9 set 5.2 ” screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels used IPS-matrix. The display is excellent, with maximum viewing angles, good color, also has the color temperature setting. Perhaps someone was waiting for Huawei Super AMOLED-use screen that Samsung has gradually begins to sell to manufacturers, but also IPS-matrix, if it is high-quality, still good. In the case of P9, we are talking about an excellent matrix, and there is nothing to find the fault except the screen, by the way, Huawei P9 Plus uses AMOLED-matrix.

Camera

The Huawei has conducted an experiment using two main chambers in the Honor 6 Plus, the new P9 idea is essentially the same.

Huawei P9 (13)

Regarding the camera, there are two 12 megapixel modules, F2.2 aperture, laser focus, the ability to manually select the aperture value in a wide range (software). In practice, you can get beautiful images. To be honest, I do not believe that the firmware is somehow better, but otherwise I liked the camera. Especially Huawei P9 focuses on the subject has a distance of 2 – 2.5 cm, for comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is about 3.5 cm, one of the best indicators.

The camera appeared full manual shooting mode with the ability to manually select the focus distance, and other parameters.

Huawei P9 (4)

However, in fact, Huawei P9 has an interesting feature on the camera, and the name is Leica. As noted in the company, Huawei P9 used Leica optics and proprietary algorithms, in other words, everything practically, created in conjunction with Leica camera except the interface.

Platform and Memory

Huawei P9 – the company’s first device based on the latest self-developed platform – HiSilicon Kirin 955. It is an eight-chip, quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8 GHz and quad-core Cortex-A72 at a frequency of 2.5 GHz. In fact, Kirin 955 is upgraded from Kirin 950, which is used in the current flagship Huawei Mate 8.

Huawei P9 (12)

Huawei P9 will be available in two versions – 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM or 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM. In both cases, the memory can be added by installing one of the slots for microSD card and SIM-card.

Talking about the performance of the P9 so far, what I’ve seen for an hour acquaintance with the device in the office, leads us to expect a good, typical of the flagships of the speed.

Huawei P9 (2)

Conclusion

From the P7 to P8, Huawei continues to move in the right direction. New P9 is in fact a happy medium in the model range of the brand, which, as we can see, trying to go all the way like Samsung to some extent. The flagship P9 is a balanced, expensive smartphone with the highest within the range of parameters. In addition, for those who need a larger screen, P9 Plus is provided. One of the advantages is a good screen, great size, the body of metal, fashionable glass surround and nice jacket. In a summary, the Huawei P9 is a great middle class smartphone.

Triple Carrier Aggregation

The Netgear AirCard 810 router has a replaceable, strong battery of 2,930 mAh, which will allow up to 11 hours of operating time. What’s more, up to 15 devices are supplied with an Internet connection at the same time through the WiFi from Aircard 810s, of course the dual-band operation is supported on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with the current WLAN ac standard. The modem is one of the fastest cellular modems currently on the market: the Qualcomm chipset supports data rates of up to 600 MBit/s in downlink, corresponding LTE category 11 which is being accomplished via Triple Carrier aggregation, ie the bundling of up to three frequency ranges. In many countries, this technology is expected to be commercially available after 2016. Some network providers are already testing this technology in their deploying bands, so as to increase the LTE speed.

The Netgear AirCard 810 hotspot is very similar to the predecessor model AirCard 790 visually and technically, a large touchscreen display on the front facilitates operation. Who wants to know more about the Netgear aircard 790s, you can read the AirCard 790s Review . Since I have the AirCard 810 Hotspot and we can test it soon. A detailed review of the Netgear AirCard 810 follows in the next few weeks.  A PDF data sheet are available on the NETGEAR website.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Smartphone Review

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is the successor to the successful Galaxy S6 edge since March 2016. The design has been changed compared to its predecessor only cautiously in the art, however, there is considerably more extensive changes. The battery is larger, there is a slot for memory cards and the camera should provide a better picture quality. The most recent processor including fast LTE Advanced modem has been installed. As the conclusion comes out after two weeks of use, you can read details in this review.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (7)

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is in a smart and supplied black cardboard. This is expanded laterally and has higher quality than the cardboard, which Samsung has used in recent years for its smartphones. Even on the appearance, there is a small surprise: Samsung packs a MicroUSB to USB adapter, so you can easily transfer data from an existing smartphone to the Galaxy S7. Also featuring: USB charging and data cable, manual and a quick-charge power supply, which has an output of 5V/2A or 9V/1.67A. Wireless charging supports Galaxy S7 edge well, but more on that later.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (3)

The first impression is very good: the Galaxy S7 edge has an extremely high-quality and noble, the workmanship is excellent. While the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge are front and back covered with glass and the frame is made of steel, but the S7 edge is not as sharp and is therefore more comfortable in the hand. The display is slightly larger than the normal Galaxy S7 and impressed by an outstanding display of 5.5 inches.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (4)

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has a 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display installed, which is down slightly rounded on both sides. Not only the first impression of the display is very good, even after some time of use you will always be delighted with the quality. Color display, brightness, viewing angles, black level – at all important criteria, the display of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is at a top level. In my opinion it currently gets here the best smartphone display without ifs and buts.

A new feature is always on display compared to the previous generation. The time, date, SMS and battery status are clearly visible shown on the display when the device is in standby mode. It’s a bit annoying that the display to a different location every few seconds. In addition, enhanced functionality would be welcome, that allows even small notifications to display.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (1)

The Galaxy S7 edge display is still just a gimmick in my opinion, albeit an extremely chic which is worth 100 euros extra thoroughly. Samsung has introduced a few improvements to the sidebar, so you can start quickly, for example, apps or call favorites. These features are really to use but probably very few and in theory this would also no “edge” possible.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2)

Fast chipset and LTE CAT9

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge comes with 32 gigabytes of internal memory, this is expandable using MicroSD memory card. The main memory (RAM) is 4GB in size and ensures that many programs can be run simultaneously, even when using multiple tabs in the browser almost never needs to be recharged. A octa-core processor Exynos is used, which works very fast. There is never stuttering or commemorative seconds in the Android 6.0 operating system.

The modem reaches speeds of up to 450 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in uplink via LTE Advanced CAT9. At present, in many countries, maximum of 300 Mbit/s LTE network is available, but with the Galaxy S7 edge has definitely a future-proof device in his hands. The internet connection is very fast and the reception in the LTE network(800 and 1800 MHz) is very good.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (5)

camera

The camera of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was already immediately convincing, the picture quality was already really good. In Samsung S7 edge now, it has a 12 megapixel camera instead of a 16 megapixel camera built-in, for the individual pixels have become larger and get more light. The photos result is even better in low light conditions. The aperture of F1.7 provides more light on the sensor. Overall, the image quality is really very good, however, it bothers me that the sensor now in the aspect ratio 4: 3 is working and not in 16: 9 aspect ratio. If one would like 16: 9 pictures, so the resolution is almost halved from 16 megapixels to about 9 megapixels compared to the Galaxy S6.

Even videos can record very well with the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The highest possible resolution is UHD, alternatively also provides Full HD at 60 fps, to create, for example, slow motion shots.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (6)

Battery & VoLTE

As already talking about the Samsung Galaxy S6, the battery in the S7 edge is permanently installed and is not changeable by the user. The capacity is 3600 mAh, which is enough for a whole day with heavy use. If one uses the smartphone only moderately, so two days are certainly possible, but the S7 edge Calls downright for intensive use on, so it will remain for most users at a day Crib. Samsung promises that the battery is completely fully charged within 100 minutes thanks to quick charging. In fact, the charge is very fast!

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (8)

Particularly interesting is the Wireless Quick Charging Function. With a matching wireless smart charger, such as the Choetech CHOE-T511Q , the S7 edge can charge very quickly without USB cable. This is of course much more convenient than ever charging through the cable.

The voice quality when making calls is very good. Depending on the service provider the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge supports also HD Voice and Voice over LTE (VoLTE). These times, you do not need a device with network operator branding, the Galaxy S7 edge activated VoLTE automatically if the provider supports the service. The result is very short compared call setup times, as a test shows.

Conclusion

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S7 edge as an excellent smartphone on the market. Compared to Galaxy S6 edge from last year, although only details have been improved, but that’s why the S7’s edge is currently the best smartphone without doubt on the market. The camera offers a good image quality, the display is excellent and all the technology is at a very high level. I personally interfere only two points: the device is very large, hardly controllable in one hand and in the some versions, Samsung has the dual SIM function deactivated. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is really a very good smartphone worth to have one.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Comparison

Samsung has presented two new flagship smartphones since March: the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Both units are very well equipped, and offer the latest technology with the latest software. The Galaxy S7 edge is slightly larger compared to the normal S7 and stands out mainly by both sides curved display. In this article, we will compare the two Samsung mobile phones and see which one is batter and worth the more expensive price.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS S7 Edge (3)

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Display

The biggest difference between Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge is already in the name: the edge has a curved screen to the sides, whereas the normal S7 has a flat screen. Furthermore, the display of S7 edge with 5.5 inches is slightly larger than that of the Galaxy S7, which has a 5.1 inch display. The resolution is 2560 x 1440 pixels identical, both devices offer it a perfect presentation, individual pixels can not be seen with the naked eye.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS S7 Edge (6)

The display quality is excellent for both devices in every respect. The brightness is very good, colors are strong and black, thanks to Super AMOLED technology. Although the technology is the same: the display of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge acts simply “better” through the curved sides. When scrolling through web pages, while looking at pictures and videos – the display seems sometimes almost borderless and is just a beautiful thing. Samsung edge has some features such as speed dial keys placed on the display, theoretically this would also work with a flat screen. I personally have this functionality disabled rather quickly, since one calls the sidebar sometimes unintentionally.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS S7 Edge (4)

Conclusion about the display: both devices offer the best display on the market, the Galaxy S7 edge is fascinating and simply “beautiful”. Only with the enormous size of 5.5 inches is a little bit difficult to operate within one hand, the normal Galaxy S7 is 5.1 inches which is definitely more manageable.

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Camera

Both smartphones are almost identical, at least when one considers the technology to the screen. Regarding the battery, there is a noticeable difference: the S7 edge has a 3,600 mAh battery, the S7 has battery of 3,000 mAh. With a larger display, the S7 edge consumes a little more energy, yet I have the S7 edge model achieved overall slightly longer times than the normal S7.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS S7 Edge (5)

The back camera has 12 megapixels for both devices and is among the best from what you can get in a smartphone now. The bright F1.7 optics and the comparatively low resolution allows even in low light very decent pictures and the autofocus of the Galaxy S7 / S7 edge is probably actually faster than that in any other smartphones.

Technical Specifications

The internal memory size is 32 gigabytes in both devices and can be extended inexpensively via MicroSD memory card. Regarding the processor, Samsung uses a model of the OctaCore Exynos so as the Galaxy S7, which makes them the fastest smartphones available. The modem achieved speeds of up to 450 Mbit/s downstream and up to 50 Mbit/s upstream through LTE Advanced category 9. Reception and voice quality of both smart phones were well in the test, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) is supported by default and works without branding firmware.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS S7 Edge (1)

Both Samsung smartphones are protected against water and dust, and are supplied with a quick-charging power supply, which enables a complete charge in 90 minutes (Galaxy S7) or 100 minutes (Galaxy S7 edge). In addition, the quick-charging function is also available with contactless charging, with a corresponding charging pad, you can charge the device very convenient.

Samsung Galaxy S7 VS S7 Edge (2)

Conclusion: S7 or S7 edge?

Ultimately, you should ask yourself two questions if you want to buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 or a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge: one may prefer the size of the S7 or S7 edge? Both can be found best out in direct comparison on site in the electronics market and the mobile phone shop.
I personally would decide at any time for the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, the display is simply fascinating. But if you prefer one hand operation, then normal Samsung Galaxy S7, as the shape is pleasant without the curved display. Whichever device you then ultimately decide: you will definitely get an excellent phone with very good technology.

Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 (2016) Compared

To meet the demand for the middle class smartphones, Samsung offers a new version of its Galaxy A series a few weeks ago. However, most of users may not know what’s difference between the two Samsung devices, and whether the Galaxy A5 worth for the additional cost, today we will show this comparison.

Samsung Galaxy A5 VS A3

The Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 and the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 differs only the size. The design and materials are identical in both devices, the frame is made of metal and the front and rear glass, which is down slightly rounded at the sides. Both units are perfectly finished and make a very high-quality impression. Overall, the Galaxy A3 2016 is due to the smaller size but a bit better in the hand than the Galaxy A5 2016. The smaller unit is also better for single-handed operation.

Samsung Galaxy A5 VS A3 SIZE

Both smartphones are available in four colors, including black, white, gold and pink. The color is applied to both the back and on the front. Especially with the black version, fingerprints shows very well.

Display and Camera

Both smartphones feature a Super AMOLED display, which is very bright and very angle-stable. The display of the Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 is 4.7 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the display of the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 is 5.2 inches t, and dissolves with 1920 x 1080 pixels. Both displays are good, but that of the Galaxy A5 is in direct comparison better because the higher resolution is quite visible on closer inspection. In daily use, the Galaxy A3 offers sufficiently high resolution for all applications without direct comparison. At the Galaxy A5 2016, there is a practical LED notification above the display, which can display, for example, new SMS or WhatsApp messages. Unfortunately, this LED is missing in the A3 2016.

samsung galaxy A5 VS A3 UI

The back camera of the A series both devices is 13 megapixels, the quality is really good on both devices. Especially with macro shots surprisingly beautiful pictures are possible. The Galaxy A5 2016 provides a whole but the slightly better camera, as it is with F1.9 aperture light-sensitive than the A3 and also has an optical image stabilizer, which is to prevent blurred images. Videos are possible for both devices with full HD and the front camera for selfies solves both devices made with 5 megapixels.

Samsung Galaxy A3 VS A5 Screen

Performance and operating system

Both the Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 and the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 comes with the Android operating system in version 5.1 Lollipop. Whether an update appear on Android 6, is still unclear. The operation is fluid and fast on both devices, a total often but the A5 respond slightly faster to inputs than the A3, possibly due to better hardware. So the Galaxy A5 has built a Octacore processor, while the A3 is delivered only with a quad-core processor. Also, the memory of the A5 is with 2GB slightly larger than the A3, which has only 1.5GB.

Samsung Galaxy A5 VS A3 Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 offers excellent radio properties, thanks to LTE Cat6, speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s downstream and up to 50 Mbit/s upload speeds over the wireless network possible. The Galaxy A3 2016 has “only” LTE Cat4 with up to 150 MBit/s. Even with WLAN, the Galaxy A5 has the edge: it supports dual-band WLAN with the latest 802.11ac standard, the A3 contrast, only WLAN 802.11n 2.4 GHz.

Samsung Galaxy A5 VS A3 thickness

Conclusion: Galaxy A3 or A5?

Which of the two Samsung Galaxy A 2016 smartphone should you buy now, the A3 or A5? The A5 is more expensive and provides the better specification in almost every way. The processor is faster, the memory increases, the camera better and Wi-Fi and LTE are significantly more current. The Galaxy A3 is in smaller dimensions and offers an enough specification for common use. If you want a budget smartphone, Galaxy A3 may be a good one, but if you want better experience and can accept high price, Galaxy A5 may be better.

Netgear AirCard 790s Mobile LTE Hotspot

Since early 2016, the Netgear AirCard 790 Mobile Hotspot with LTE Advanced Cat6 and large touch screen display is available in the market. The device is priced settled in direct comparison with the competitors of Huawei E5786 and Alcatel One Touch Y900. In LTE network, the router can reach up to 300 Mbit/s, the connection to the connected devices runs through MicroUSB 3.0 or Dual Band WLAN ac. We will check the detailed features of Aircard 790s.

Netgear Aircard AC790S (1)

The Netgear AirCard 790 router is supplied in a small cardboard box. In addition to the device itself, you will find a power supply with an output of 5 volts at 1 amp and a USB to Micro-USB 3.0 cable included. The power supply has a modular design and is supplied with an “adapter” for the common use in Europe socket. This of course is useful if you want to make even a holiday or a business trip. Besides the normal USB cable, another short “Jump Boost Cable” can also be found yet in the package. This allows you to connect an ordinary USB charging cable and thus the use of the Netgear AirCard 790 for charging other devices ( “Power Bank”).

Holding the Netgear AirCard 790 hotspot for the first time in his hand, this feels good. The workmanship is good and the weight of 136 grams including battery is completely pocket-fit. Also the large display is on the front, which is easy to read. But more on that later.

 LTE Advanced Cat6

The Netgear AC790 Hotspot has a current LTE multimode modem Qualcomm MDM9230 that for LTE Advanced category 6 ( “Cat6”) with up to 300 Mbit/s supported in the downlink. In the uplink up to 50 Mbit/s are possible. In the test with a mobile data plan, around 200 Mbit/s can be achieved, the ping time was on average about 25 milliseconds. The data rates fluctuated quite widely depending on the radio cell and the time of day, but this is quite normal.

The reception at the LTE network on 800 and 1800 MHz was good, better than many smartphones. If necessary, you can receive and data rates with an external antenna optimized to stand side of the AirCard 790 Router (two TS-9 connectors). The terminals are protected by a small sliding mechanism from dust.

Netgear Aircard AC790S (3)

Of course, the Netgear AC790 is also the 3G/UMTS network backward compatible, here are DC-HSPA+ up to 42.2 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 5.76 Mbit/s in the uplink possible. 2G and the GSM network is not supported, although Netgear advertises on its homepage partially. This is unusual for a mobile hotspot. But since 4G is now the mainstream and 3G is now widely used, 2G may not be necessary now in most areas.

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS

Up to 15 devices can be powered wirelessly over WLAN with an Internet connection at the same time from Netgear AirCard 790s router. The connection is made either in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz range, thanks to the 2 × 2 MIMO antenna technology and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, speeds of up to 1,200 Mbit/s. Fast enough to see the full LTE speed to use Cat6. The WLAN range was in the test quite well, the data rates increase – particularly in the 5 GHz band – but very quickly, as soon as a wall is between the router and the terminal. On request, you can also use USB ( “USB Tethering”) for connection and the WLAN can be optionally completely disable.

Netgear Aircard AC790S (4)

The Netgear AC790 supports both multi-SSID as well as a guest-Fi function. So you can, for example, separate the private network from another shared WiFi network. On the maximum number of connected devices that are not altered, the number of 15 devices refers to all wireless networks simultaneously.

Operation and Software

While many mobile LTE routers provide a small display for displaying important information, but the setup and configuration of the device usually requires a computer or at least a smartphone app. When Netgear AirCard 790 hotspot that is different, the router has a large touchscreen display on the front, so that the web interface normally is not required. Operation is self-explanatory thanks to large icons and clear labels, the capacitive display reacts quickly and properly. At the side of the display, there is “back” two soft-touch buttons and “Home”, which are also self-explanatory. The display switches off after a short delay and without actuation independently, so that the energy consumption is not too high. A bright LED above the display then informs about the operating status.

Netgear Aircard AC790S (5)

On the home page or the “home screen” all relevant information are clearly displayed, for example, the battery level, the number of connected devices, the used data volume and the network operator. Even the SMS function is easily available on the touch screen display, even if the keyboard is of course advised quite small.

Battery with Power Bank Function

The battery of the Netgear AirCard 790 hotspots has a capacity of 2,930 mAh and is easily replaceable by the user. The Aircard 790s can be charged via USB cable, including power supply, but also easy to charge with a possibly existing smartphone PSU including microUSB port. The operating time is about 11 hours according to Netgear. In the test, this figure could be reached fairly accurate.

With the included “Jump Boost cable”, the Netgear AirCard 790 hotspot can be also used for charging other devices, such as smartphones. Although this is not very efficient, a full battery charge may not be possible in most smartphones, but the Jump Boost function definitely interesting for a short “recharging”.

Optional Docking Station

Netgear provides for the AirCard Hotspot series of two docks that extend the mobile hotspot to a “real” stationary LTE router. The two devices are called DC112A and DC113A, where currently only the DC113A is available. The Cradle DC112A is significantly better equipped than the DC113A dock, so you get the DC112A as four Gigabit LAN ports, one Gigabit WAN port, two high-performance WLAN antennas and an improved WLAN module. The connections for an external mobile antenna are “looped through”, so that one also can connect an external antenna LTE (2x TS-9 connector) at DC112A.

Conclusion: Netgear AirCard 790

The Netgear AirCard AC790S Hotspot could convince in the test with a large variety of functions and the latest technology. The modem is fast and the Internet connection even with frequent cell Jump stable, the WLAN module scores with good data rates and many setting options. Some prospective customers will also complain about the lack of WiFi Extender function. The Aircard 790s is offered at good price than its competitors. It’s a recommended 4G pocket router with aggressive price!

Huawei-E5573 vs E5577 MIFI

Appearance

If you only hear the name, you don’t have imagination about the two mobile routers. But if you get the two routers in hand, you will see there is obvious difference:

Huawei E5577 has a 1.45 inch TFT LCD screen, at the left side of the screen, it’s the logo; and at the right side, the power button. Huawei E5573 has no screen, the power button is at the middle of the top body. At the left side of the power button, it’s the signal strength indicator while the battery indicator at the right side. From this point, Huawei E5577 seems more friendly, because user can read the information about network providers, network signal, WiFi connected users, battery status, WiFi name and password on the screen.

Huawei E5577 is thicker than E5573 even though they both has the same battery capacity of 1500mAh. And their battery can be removed so that user can insert the SIM card under the battery.

Technical Specifications

Huawei E5577 and E5573 are both LTE mobile hotspots based on LTE Category 4, so they could both support the peak download speed to 150Mbps and upload speed to 50mbps on FDD-LTE networks. While on TD-LTE network, the peak download speed to 112mbps and upload speed to 10Mbps. And they both support up to 11 wireless terminals to access internet simultaneously. Similarly, the 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ and GSM/EDGE networks are backward. And the speed on DC-HSPA+ network could reach 43.2Mbps, which is good for most users.

Huawei E5573 and E5577 both have the connectors for external antennas. The connector type is TS-9, so if you are located at areas with weak network coverage, an external antenna may be necessary so that to get better surfing experience. Below are the recommended external indoor and outdoor antenna for Huawei E5577 and E5573:
