HUAWEI E3131 3G 21Mbps Hilink USB Stick Review

To choose the right USB modem, it depends not only on the speed and efficiency of the mobile internet. As a result, it will also depend on the experience of using a computer. Most of us use it almost exclusively online. But when you use a USB Dongle, it may be already outline.

Huawei E3131 USB modem looks simple, just like the other common type of USB dongles. The black case is made of really good quality plastic. This white logo of T-mobile breaks the ubiquitous black and makes it look much interesting than most competitors. Under the removable lid there are two slots, the larger one, placed on the top is the place where you put the SIM card. The smaller one, on the side is the pace to mount its microSD memory cards up to 32 GB and use the modem like an ordinary USB flash drive, even when connected to the Internet.

On the body, we can see small plug socket for external antenna is hidden under a small cap. It is worth to use it if you intend to use mobile internet in bad network conditions, for example in buildings constructed so that effectively suppress cellular network coverage. In our tests, however, we did not take advantage of this opportunity – because Huawei is working very stable and does not lose coverage so easily. Enclosure E3131 hides another, a small but very useful curiosity – a solid metal handle leash. The string can also drag the USB connector cap to prevent it from getting lost.

The installation consists of connecting it to the USB port. The operating system automatically recognizes the device and installs the appropriate drivers.

Installation process as simple as connecting it to the USB port- The operating system automatically recognizes the device E3131 and installs the appropriate drivers. The driver is stored in the modem, so we do not need to use additional software that comes on additional media. With Windows 7, you only need to manually run the installer for the Internet Manager. However, it is very easy and it boils down to virtually one click. If you are using the latest Windows 8, you do not have to do even that – everything will be completely automatic.

In addition to the connection to the internet, leading Internet Manager Panel also gives you access to many useful options. With it, you can send and receive text messages, check history of operations, the statistics of downloaded and uploaded data, and even use the subscriber’s personal account at T-Mobile. Huawei E3131 is compatible with HSPA+, which means that it is able to download data at speeds up to 21 Mbit/s. Posting is done in standard HSUPA, there is a maximum transfer rate of 5.76 Mbit/s. Such parameters freely enough to free and comfortable surfing the Internet resources. The practical results of our tests present themselves as well. Transfer speed in the test fluctuated around 14 Mbit/s for download.
Huawei E3131 modem is that you can recommend with a clear conscience, it is a small, portable and offers high-speed mobile Internet. His decisive advantages are also practical solutions, such as space for extra memory and a slot for an external antenna. And here now, there is HUAWEI E372 HSPA+ 42Mbps stick, if you want higher speed, you may need check HUAWEI E372 on 4gltemall.com . You will find something more amazing.

The Speedport II with the new “Call & Surf via Funk” tariffs was launched in early December 2012 by Telekom. The router in LTE category 3 mode provides up to 100 Mbps download speed and capacity of 50 Mbps in upload. In addition, the Speedport II LTE is backward with 3G network, ie UMTS and HSPA (including DC-HSPA+). Earlier, the Telekom supplied from two different hardware versions, depending on what had just technically available at the customer network. A further improvement to the old port speed is the WLAN module. The new Speedport II now supports the latest “N” standard. Thus, home networks can reach via radio with up to 300 Mbit/s speed. There are also improvements in range and Wi-Fi reception. This is according to the manual, in confined spaces, up to 30 meters or outside up to 300 meters. There are 4 RJ45 ports with up to 100 Mbps. Under the white label, it indicates the manufacturer model is Huawei router with the ID “B593u-12“.

Fit for LTE Network in Europe

The previous Speedport LTE dominated only in the band of 800 MHz; the second version is now much more flexible. Besides the already mentioned backward compatibility, LTE band 7/20 (1800 and 2600MHz) is supported. Therefore, the Telekom in some regions also provide up to 100 Mbps data rate by Call & Surf via Funk (L) for the first time.

Unlike the SPEEDBOX

Both variants for Telekom 4G Router are confusingly similar, not only on the name. Technically, there is also almost identical design. But: When Speedport II is GSM (2G) not connected, so that the Call & Surf tariffs only run via 3G or 4G.  The Speedport LTE II is in white, while the Speedbox is packed in a black case.

Prices and Rates

The router can be purchased in the 4G shop (www.4gltemall.com) for around 399USD. And it’s SIM unlocked, if you want to change to Vodafone 4G network, you will not need to change another router.

Huawei B593 = Telekom Speedbox LTE

As usual, the routers for Telekom and Vodafone are in difference label. To identify the devices, the appearance of the router is usually slightly modified (eg, color or some ports) and the logo of the mobile provider is customized for respect providers. The Speedbox LTE is in black color like Speedport LTE, while Vodafone B2000 is in white. But actually, they are the same model from HUAWEI B593, more accurately, the model number is B593u-12 LTE CPE.  From the label on the back of the router, we can see the details.

Improvements

The previous model Speedport LTE still belongs to the first Generation of LTE routers which were available in late 2010. Unfortunately, accordingly to the feedback from users, the Speedport LTE is not successful 4G equipment. LTE terminals were still scarce; therefore it had to be functional. The new version Speedbox LTE finally brings long overdue with new features and improvements.

First, the Speedbox is also backward compatible with 3G and 2G networks. This is important in case LTE is not available around. This features help Speedbox automatically revert to the next fastest standard. Previously, customers had to unfortunately live with a total failure, because the fall-back function was not anticipated at the Speedport. In addition, the router B593u-12 now dominates the LTE frequency bands at 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz. The predecessor was only designed for LTE800, ie designed for rural areas. The maximum data rate of HUAWEI B593u-12 is doubled to 100 Mbit/s downstream and 50 Mbit/s for upload. Beyond is a new USB port and connection for phones. Both analog telephone and VOIP should be possible.

Since, as already mentioned, the old Speedport is only capable of a wireless standard that Telekom provides far from two different modes. When choosing between the “Speedport LTE” and “Speedport HSPA”, the router Speedbox will choose depending on which standard is more available to the customer. This features is smart for the users who are not familiar with 4G Routers.

Availability

The Speedbox is available in the Telekom retail stores and online store www.4gltemall.com without LTE contracts. Many users prefer unlocked Speedbox, or more honestly, they would choose the factory model HUAWEI B593u-12 because they are just logo or appearance difference, functions are all the same and original factory model is SIM free for any operators.

Vodafone B1000 4G LTE Router

Vodafone B1000 is a new 4G LTE router for Vodafone. Behind the router, there is a stick indicating the model number of “B390s-2” and the manufacturer company Huawei. The noble, handsome white case houses an LTE modem router with WLAN. Following you will find all the important details including specifications, characteristics and overview about Vodafone B1000 4G Router.

Technically speaking, the Huawei B390s-2 is in the B1000 series. In the industry it is common to “brand” hardware from original manufacturers but with their own logo on the appearance. Also the appearance may vary slightly from the “original”. The integrated 4G-LTE modem B1000 is only compatible with the LTE band around 800 MHz. More specifically, it can on the band of 832 MHz – 862 MHz send (upload) and in the band of 791 MHz – 821 MHz receive (download). The supported bandwidth is 10 MHz. So the router is only unique for rural use up to 50 Mbit/s and is not suited for urban use. The chipset is “HiSilicon” (Hi6910), which is HUAWEI own chipset.

Telephone:

Unfortunately, the router does not have a PBX. In the LTE tariffs from Vodafone, there is no telephone available, which is of course no problem. However, the provider also offers complete packages with phone line and optionally with fixed flat rate. Customers who order the version with telephone, will note get the B1000. Alternatively, a pure LTE router together with a conventional DSL router is supplied, which is named Vodafone B2000. The Vodafone B2000 is upgraded from B1000, which is not only better in network coverage, but also the functions and performance.

LAN & wireless network properties:

The B1000 provides 4 LAN ports and of course Wi-Fi functionality for setting up a home network. The wireless network provided can be operated with standard 802.11b and 802.11g. With up to 54 Mbps integrated into the network, it can therefore support a maximum of 32 devices wirelessly (eg, laptop, internet radio). The latest “N” standard is not supported yet, which is a shame. Neither dominates the B1000 the spark in WLAN operation at 5 GHz. The LTE B2000 Router provides significantly more. And WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption is possible options.

Extras:

The Vodafone B1000 is curiously almost twice as heavy as the technically virtually identical Telekom Speedport LTE. The weight is 900 grams, if user worry about the place to lay this device, here are the exact dimensions: 177 x 193 x 34 mm (width x height x depth).

HUAWEI E372 42Mbps USB Stick Work with Netgear MBRN3000

T-Mobile E372(Huawei) is sold under the name WEB ‘N’ WALK STICK BUSINESS II and it’s SIM card free without lock in Germany version. The Dual Carrier HSPA+ Huawei E372 reaches up to 42Mbit/s (according to manufacturer). The dual cell HSPA+ could support double speed than single HSPA+ network connection.

Huawei E372 with the Netgear MBRN3000 Router – but not with T-Mobile firmware

If you Plug the Huawei E372 to the router MBRN3000, it will not be recognized. The reason is the special T-Mobile firmware. In order to be able to run the E372 stick with the Netgear MBRN3000, user need a neutral firmware. This could be obtained free of charge on the Internet.

Instructions to play the firmware(User need 2 steps to play the firmware):

  • A. The current version firmware for the stick to find on dc-files.com
  • B. Flash code generator for Huawei (v4mpire_unlocker, simply v4mpire_unlocker in Google search)

First, you create the Flash code v4mpire_unlocker with the program. You start this program and return the IMEI number of a stick. The IMEI number can be found in the T-Mobile Connection Manager, or lay the stick in packing. Then click on Calculate the code. Now the flashing is: Code displayed. We record this or copy it.

Then you start the firmware exe from dc-files.com. Shortly thereafter, we will post flash demand code we created before. Just enter the code and the stick gets filled with the new firmware. The whole takes a few minutes.

Now you can plug the stick into the Netgear MBRN3000 and let run through the setup wizard. The stick is found and installed.

However, we have found that with the Netgear MBRN3000 loses about 40% of performance. When HUAWEI E372 stick connects to the PC directly, the speed of up to 24Mbps can be reached, but with the Netgear MBRN3000 router, only 16 Mbps can be achieved. Apparently the Netgear MBRN3000 is not designed for Dual Carrier HSPA+ and can’t not get sufficient power for such high bandwidths.

The HUAWEI E372 stick also works with all providers in Austria because it is not locked to T-Mobile. It’s SIM card free and support 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ Qual-bands.

B2000 = Huawei B593

Following the Vodafone B1000, B2000 is with improved hardware based on support from the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. The appearance of B2000 looks like the ” Speedbox LTE “by Telekom, they are both from the original model Huawei B593u-12. With the demand from the operator, they adapted to the design for the respective mobile provider and logo. Thus, the B2000 from Vodafone comes in a white gown, while Telekom is focusing on noble black.

More power with LTE

First, the positive features with improved LTE attract eyes. While the B1000 “only” supported up to 50 Mbit/s, the B2000 now offers full support of up to 100 Mbps download speed and 50 Mbps upload transmission. The data is based on perfect network reception conditions. Huawei has also broadened the network support on Vodafone B2000. Instead of only on the LTE800 band, the B2000 can now also be used for LTE 2.6GHz (1.8 GHz would possibly be available after later firmware update). With backward compatible with 3G or 2G networks, when LTE is not available, it switches to HSPA, UMST, GSM or necessary. But for the B1000, this feature was not yet operational. Two external antennas can be connected via SMA connector to B2000 in case that the local reception conditions are not sufficient. A new feature is the telephone support, which is not supported by B1000.

Telephone and WLAN

Vodafone B2000 is the first time to bring telephones connection. If using B1000 Router, you had to combine with a DSL router to set up an LTE phone system or analog. B2000 LTE Router also supports VOIP, there are 2 RJ11 telephone interface. Local wireless networks can now be operated with the contemporary 802.11n WLAN standard with the B2000. That means up to 300 Mbps transfer rate could make true. Unfortunately, B2000 Router is lack of support the 5GHz band, but WEP encryption, WPA and WPA2 and 4 LAN Ports are available.

Now you can get the Vodafone B2000 4G LTE Router from www.4gltemall.com .

Review Vodafone R210 Review

The Vodafone R210 is from the Chinese supplier HUAWEI, and is customized from the model HUAWEI E589. The R210 should be a god partner for business trips. If you put his SIM card in the device, it allows up to 10 other Wi-Fi devices access 4G (LTE) network. This device could be be tablets, laptops or smartphones. The R210 router supports all three relevant LTE bands at 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz. Of course, there is a “fall-back” option. In other words, if LTE is not available locally, the R210 would automatically switch to the next best available network. To optimize the reception, an external antenna can be connected via TS9 connector. The Vodafone R210 is identical with the Huawei E589, except that Vodafone logo emblazoned on the front. It’s a pity they has only one external antenna connector.

As you can see from the picture, the R210 offers operator information via a small display. The display also provides information about the current signal strength, network technology used (eg LTE) and the battery status. And you don’t need worry about the battery supply, it’s has total capacity of 3000 mAh, which is even larger than most smartphones.

What’s more, the R210 is unlimited to Vodafone 4G LTE network, so if you other SIM which works on Band 3/7/20 or single one of them, the Vodafone R210 will also work well without any trouble. Since band 3/7/20 are the most common 4G Frequency bands in Europe, the HUAWEI R210 support almost all the LTE network and 3G UMTS networks in Europe. So HUAWEI R210 is one of the best potable 4G Router to surf and take around.

When 4G LTE network is not available, Speed stick II LTE can automatically switch to the UMTS and GSM network. On UMTS network, the speed of up to 42.2 Mbit/s can be achieved with the mobile network with the data accelerator DC-HSPA+ is equipped.

Compared to the first Speed Stick LTE, the latest version seems to be much cheaper, but perhaps it’s because it’s unfortunately somewhat less well-equipped. In contrast to the Telekom Speed Stick I, Speedstick II LTE missed the connector for an external antenna. But that’s not the only difference: even the USB port is rotatable when LTE Speed Stick II LTE cannot. The workmanship is not as high as the HUAWEI E398 manufactured by Huawei. The common feature is that both them can be upgraded with a MicroSD memory card to the memory stick.

The idea to use the Speed Stick II LTE is only worthwhile if you currently still has no LTE stick. The device offers all important functions and is a good introduction to the fourth generation of mobile communications. If you want to have a slightly higher quality model or connectors for external antennas, it is better to consider Speed Stick LTE without the “II”, that is HUAWEI E398u-15.
