Summary

From the spec table, we can see the Huawei E5885 and TP-link M7450 are both LTE Cat6 mobile WiFi hotspot which could achieve peak download speed up to 300Mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps. They both provide WiFi 802ac on dual-bands and support up to 32 wireless devices with 2 x 2 MIMO technology. But there are many obvious differences to note:

  1. LTE Frequency Bands

Huawei E5885 and TP-link M7450 both support FDD-LTE & TDD-LTE networks, but TP-link M7450 supports mainly the frequency bands popular in Asia and Europe. Huawei E5885 supports LTE band 4, which is widely deployed in American areas, so Huawei E5885 could not only work well in Aisa and European countries, it can also work well in American countries.

Like other TP-link LTE mobile WiFi, he TP-link M7450 battery is removable and has the capacity of 3000mAh, while the Huawei E5885 has a battery pack of 6400mAh and the battery is non-removable. The large battery of Huawei E5885 makes it work like a power bank to charge other devices, which is a very useful function. With the large battery, Huawei E5885 is a little bit thicker than common 4G pocket WiFi routers.

  1. Interface

TP-link M7450 has only a Mini USB port for charge, but Huawei E5885 has not only the Mini USB port to charge and the USB 2.0 port to charge other devices, but also one Ethernet port for both LAN & WAN, which is also a practical function if user travel to places where only Ethernet connection is available.

The TP-link M7450 price is a little bit more expensive than Huawei E5885 price, but not too much. But we don’t think the TP-link M7450 is worth this price, on this price, you can consider the higher level pocket WiFi Netgear Aircard 810s.

Huawei E5885 VS Netgear Aircard 790s

We had introduced the Huawei Cat6 Pocket WiFi one month ago. As a new 4G+ Cat6 MiFi, Huawei E5885Ls-93a was added to the Cat6 router list. However, there are many similar 4G LTE pocket WiFi in the market. Netgear Aircard 790s is one of the LTE Cat6 MiFi routers. Somebody had asked what the difference is between the Huawei E5885Ls-93a and Netgear AC790S and which one is better to buy. Huawei E5885Ls-93a VS Netgear AC790S Appearance

If you had read our blog about Netgear mobile hotspot, you may know the Netgear Aircard 790s is in a typical design of a Netgear mobile hotspot. It has a touchscreen and it’s the first 4G LTE Pocket WiFi router with a touchscreen. Users can do simple settings from the display. There are a power button and two connectors for high gain LTE antenna. The back cover could be moved to insert SIM card and change the battery.

 

Unlike Netgear AC790S, Huawei E5885Ls-93a has only a small display to show the connection status. Users cannot do the settings through the display. Different from other Huawei 4G portable router, Huawei E5885Ls-93a is very thick, perhaps because of the large built-in battery packs. The battery of Huawei E5885Ls-93a could not be removed but the back cover could be removed to insert SIM card and SD storage card. As one of the top networking equipment vendor, Netgear had presented many 4G WiFi routers to the public such as the well-known Nighthawk M1, Aircard 810s, Aircard 815s(also known as AT&T Unite Explore) and now a new mobile WiFi router Aircard 800s is available for Australian network provider Optus and it got a new name Optus 4G WiFi modem 800S. The aggressive Chinese competitor Huawei also follows the steps to present new wireless router even though it has many 4G pocket WiFi router available for various network providers such as Huawei E5788, E5787, E5786, E5770, etc…Now the Huawei E5885 is available. Somebody may have the question: What’s the difference between the Netgear Aircard 800s and Huawei E5885? Which one is better to buy for global travel? You may find the answers in this article.

Aircard 800s VS Huawei E5885 Appearance and Interface

If you are familiar with other Netgear mobile hotspot routers, you may know the Netgear 4G mobile hotspots are in very similar design, so as the Netgear Aircard 800s. There is a touchscreen on the front, at the side of the display, there are a Home button and Back button for operation. The Optus logo is also at the side of the screen. The power button is on the top edge side while on the opposite side, there is the USB 3.0 port and two connectors for external LTE antennas. The connector type is TS-9 and covered by two small caps. The back cover could be opened and the battery is removable for exchange and inserting the SIM card.

 

Unlike most of other Huawei Mobile WiFi 4G, the Huawei E5885 has different features. On the front, there is a small LED screen to show the internet connection status, but it’s not a touchscreen. The Huawei logo is below the screen. The power button and WPS button are on the top edge side. Between the two buttons, there is a small cap, open it, you will see the Ethernet port(RJ45) and two USB ports(Input and output). There is no connector for an external antenna. The back cover could be opened, but the battery is built-in and non-removable. The SIM card slot and Micro SD storage card slot are available. And Huawei E5885 is thicker than Aircard 800s.

And now Huawei presented a new upgraded 4G modem Ethernet model Huawei E5885, which also has an Ethernet port and SIM card slot. Huawei E5770 has a 0.96 inch OLED display on the front to show the internet connection status. Below the display, it’s Huawei logo. The power and WPS buttons are on the top edge side. The Ethernet port and USB input & output ports are covered by a cap. A user needs to open the cap to see the interfaces. The back cover can be opened. Open the back cover, the SIM card slot and SD card slot can be found. On the back cover, it indicates 5200mAh battery. The battery is built-in and non-removable. Unlike other Huawei Mobile WiFi, we can’t find the connectors for external antennas.

Following the design of Huawei E5770, the Huawei E5885 also has a small display on the front to show the connection status. The power button, WPS button, USB ports and Ethernet port are all in the same position like E5770. The difference is that the Huawei E5885 is thicker than the E5770, perhaps because it’s configured with a large battery of 6400mAh, which is shown on the back cover. The Huawei E5770 has black and white colors available while the new Huawei E5885 has the pink & black and black & gold colors.

After the releasing of Huawei E5786 – World’s first LTE cat.6 mobile hotspot, Huawei presented two new LTE Cat.6 mobile routers Huawei E5885 and E5787 last year for LTE advanced networks. Then here comes the question: why did Huawei present two new LTE Cat.6 mobile hotspots almost at the same time? What’s the difference between Huawei E5787 and E5885? Which one is better to buy if a user wants to buy one from the Huawei 4G Wireless Routers? In this article, we will compare the difference between E5887 and E5885 and you may find the answer.

Appearance and Interfaces

Upgrading from Huawei E5786 hotspot 4G, Huawei E5787 MiFi is configured with a 2.4-inch touchscreen with two connectors for external antennas. So it’s also called Huawei Mobile WiFi Touch. The connector type is TS-9. The back cover of Huawei E5787 can be opened and the battery is removable for exchange. There is only a power button on the top edge side and on the opposite side, there is a USB 3.0 port.

Unlike the Huawei E5787, the Huawei E5885 doesn’t have a touchscreen. There is only a small LCD screen to show the connection status. And there are also no connectors in Huawei E5885 for external antennas. The special feature of Huawei E5885 is that it has an Ethernet port for WAN & LAN connections. The back cover could be removed but the battery is built-in and non-removable. The features are very similar to its predecessor Huawei E5770 Mobile WiFi Pro.

Before starting, make sure that your phone or tablet is unlocked and that NFC is enabled. Ensure that your HUAWEI Mobile WiFi Pro2 is powered on and that you have the HUAWEI HiLink app installed on your device.

 

  1. Touch your device against the NFC sensor on the HUAWEI Mobile WiFi Pro2, as shown in the following figure.

  1. When detection is successful, the HUAWEI HiLink app will automatically open on your device and you will be connected to Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi icon should be visible in the status bar of your device if connection has succeeded.
