Summary

From the specs, we can see the Netgear Aircard 810s and TP-Link M7650 are both LTE-Advanced Pro mobile WiFi hotspot at the same level. They both support LTE Category 11 and could achieve download speed to 600Mbps. However, the Netgear Aircard 810s is more user-friendly based on the color touchscreen and two connectors for external LTE antennas. They both have the removable battery with almost same battery capacity. The TP-Link M7650 supports more wireless users to 32 devices and it covers more LTE frequency bands on both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks. Since Netgear AC810S is an old model now, the Aircard 810s mobile hotspot price is much lower than TP-link M7650 price. If Netgear 810s and TP-Link M7650 both could work with your SIM card, we think the Aircard 810s would be better to buy, but if you want the mobile WiFi to support more wireless users, the TP-link M7650 would be the right one to buy.

Summary

From the specs table, we can see the new Huawei E5885Ls-93a 4G hotspot supports LTE category 6 while the old model Netgear 810S supports LTE Cat.11, which could achieve almost double faster speed than that of Huawei E5885. However, the Huawei E5885 has many features that are very powerful. Firstly, the Huawei E5885 has one Ethernet port for WAN and LAN, which would provide more connection possibility, especially when the 4G connection is not available and only an Ethernet connection is available. Secondly, the Huawei E5885Ls-93a could support maximum users up to 32 users while Netgear Aircard 810s supports only 15 users. Thirdly, the Huawei E5885Ls-93a has a large battery pack of 6400mAh, which would keep working for a long time and charge other devices. The AirCard 810s also has the JumpBoost, which is to charge devices. However, the battery of 2930mAh seems weaker than Huawei E5885 battery.

However, the more advanced Netgear 810S has the same price as the latest new Huawei E5885. If you need a practical 4G mobile WiFi hotspots, Huawei E5885 seems to be more powerful and useful. But if you just need a faster internet connection, the Netgear Aircard 810s is the right one to recommend.

Netgear Aircard 810s Hotspot Overview

Netgear AC810: a complete hotspot

Aircard 810s is a 4G mobile hotspot that works with the SIM card from a mobile operator in micro-SIM format. Compatible with category 11 for the 4G LTE, it allows download speeds up to 600 Mbps. We also note the presence of a Dual Band mode in order to benefit from better speeds. It is also compatible with 4G LTE and 3G networks throughout Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, as well as with 3G networks around the world. This is what you must need if you are traveling.

The case of Netgear aircard 810s is really small, yet sturdy and can be stored easily in a bag or even in a pocket.

Accessories supplied with the AC810s

Obviously, we have a removable battery that allows you to get up to 11 hours of operation and 250 hours of standby time. A USB3 cable allows recharging to USB and a USB power adapter is provided.

A cable for the Jump Boost technology allows you to charge Smartphone if it has a micro USB jack, from the battery of the AC810.

Multiple Connections

Your devices can connect to Aircard 810s thanks to the very simple creation of an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi network. By default, it already has a network name and a password, all indicated under the battery but you can simply change these parameters via the embedded menu.

Automatic management of the SIM card

If you insert a SIM card that also includes calls, SMS and MMS and not just the data as in our tests, you will be able to see SMS directly on the AC 810 via the Messages menu. We have used two SIM cards from Vodafone and Orange. The PIN code of the SIM card must be entered so that the hotspot automatically retrieves the operator parameters.

Touch screen for the AC810 hotspot

The quality of the screen is correct but do not expect the retina. Here it makes settings simple and effective. It will be noted that this one is tactile and it can managed also on a smartphone in different menus. The return and home buttons are also tactile. This is a 2.4 inch color LCD.

This screen also allows you to view the connection quality and the connection type as well as the data consumed and the number of days remaining for this quota. It’s very useful.

We tested the hotspot with an iPhone , iPad and MacBook Pro connected at the same time and did not encounter any problems. Indeed, the AC810 is capable of accommodating up to 11 devices at the same time.

Autonomy of the AC810

On the autonomy side, 100% load, we can get duration up to 11 hours but in our first tests, soliciting the flow, the autonomy was not high. In the case of a more conventional use without a systematic flow test, this autonomy should indeed be approached.

Plus, a cable is provided, allowing you to charge your Smartphone if it does not have much autonomy. This is the Jump Boost technology. Thus, we will be able to transfer power to the smartphone. Unfortunately for the owners of iPhone and iPad, it is a micro USB and non lightning connectivity.

Features of the AC810 Hotspot

We note that the menu offers access to the operator settings and that it is possible to activate a 5 Ghz Wifi mode, making it possible to obtain better transfer rates, essential with 4G at high speed. Of course, your hardware must be compatible with this Wi-Fi standard in order to get the most out of it. It is actually Wi-Fi N.

Looking at the current available 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot, Netgear seems lead the LTE Advanced terminals. If you had known Huawei E5786 mobile WiFi, you may think this is the fastest 4G pocket router. However, if you know the two 4G mobile routers which we would introduce today, you may have a new view for the mobile terminals.

netgear-aircard-815s

Since LTE Cat3 and Cat4 are becoming the mainstream for carriers, LTE-advanced would of course be available in near future. Here we can see some carriers are stepping fast. The carrier AT&T in USA and Telstra in Australia had presented the LTE Advanced networks for commercial use. The aforementioned Huawei E5786 is a LTE cat6 mobile router, which is already available for many network providers. AT&T and Telstra already used the LTE Cat9 and Cat11 terminals, which mean the LTE Cat9 and Cat11 technologies are available for the two carriers.

Netgear Aircard 810 – World’s Fastest 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot

Netgear has launched a new mobile hotspot AirCard 810 on the market. The device has been shown in January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Now it is also available in this Australia for the network provider Telstra and named Telstra WiFi 4G Advanced III, and Netgear 810 is visually similar to its predecessor Netgear AirCard 790. However, the new model Netgear AC810S has some additional features that we will test in more detail.

Netgear aircard 810s front

The most important change is the support for LTE Cat. 11, which means the mobile Wi-Fi hotspot can support mobile data transfers at up to 600 Mbit/s, a speed that the bundling of three 20MHz and distribute a UMTS or LTE-based Internet access to up to 15 devices. Thus, the aircard 810 is currently the fastest mobile hotspot on the market.

In many countries, such high speeds of the mobile network are not yet available. However, the current mainstream providers offer top speeds of 300 or 225 Mbit/s over 4G networks, which achieve higher maximum data rates for mobile Internet access. Now Netgear AirCard 810 seems to be a corresponding future-proof device.

netgear aircard 810 package content

2G Network Support is Missing

However, the aircard 810 is not perfect actually. Although top speeds over LTE are made possible and also in the UMTS networks downstream possible speeds are up to 42 Mbit/s due to DC-HSPA technology, netgear 810s can’t access to the GSM, GPRS and EDGE networks. The 2G access should be at least a basic supply for use in geographic areas, where simply no UMTS or LTE expansion exists. The distribution of an already very slow Internet access via WiFi to multiple other devices is certainly less sensible. The Netgear AC810S router can be but also connect directly via USB to a computer and then used as a wired modem for internet access.

netgear AC810S home

Another interesting innovation compared with the Netgear AirCard 790 is the ability to not only redistribute a mobile Internet access, but also an existing wireless network. The Aircard 810 router can ensure for better reception as a repeater, especially work as a hotel hotspot and similar Internet-access distributed over several devices.

Netgear Aircard 810s sim slot

A big advantage over Aircard 810s mobile hotspots from other manufacturers is the ability to make many settings directly via the touchscreen. Quick SSID or change the password? No problem. After inserting a new SIM, the Internet settings do not have to be entered manually. This could also do directly on the touch screen.

Netgear Aircard 810s Antenna connectors

The Netgear 810 touchscreen dimensions of 112 x 69 x 15.5 millimeter are also one of the main criticisms over its predecessor: The display reflects very strong. It also takes fingerprints on unusually strong, which looks ugly if intensity of use and you do not wipe the screen clean repeatedly.

About the screen, the most important is that not all operating steps for Netgear AirCard 810 are accessible. Those who need access to all settings can use the web frontend via the Internet browser of a connected computer. Here, for example, Wi-Fi hotspots also can be set to be redistributed to the Netgear handheld. Once set, the AirCard 810 automatically uses one of the configured hotspots instead of UMTS or LTE as soon as one of the wireless access is received.

Netgear Aircard 810 web interface (1)

Apps for almost all smartphones and tablets

Another possibility to adjust the configuration of the Netgear aircard 810 router is the Netgear APP. Netgear offers Mobile Apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Network access is naturally only possible if the smartphone or tablet is connected to the mobile hotspot. The Netgear AirCard 810 weighs 132 grams, making it even four grams lighter than its predecessor. Above all, the device is easier to handle and lighter than many current smartphones. The handheld is completely pocket-fit. It is important to remember that cell phone coverage and wireless range suffer if the unit is operated close to the body.

We have tested the Netgear AirCard 810 in mobile networks. The reception was well in both LTE and the UMTS field network. By eliminating the 2G, the Aircard 810 router connection has often still held to UMTS or LTE network in less-served regions, without the need for manual adjustments. In LTE 1800 network, we came up data transfer rates of 120 Mbit/s downstream. This is a good value. But we could not test Carrier aggregation at 1800 and 2600 MHz.

WLAN at 2.4 and 5 GHz

The Netgear AC810S router sends the default wireless frequency range of 2.4 GHz, as an option, 5 GHz is also available. Moreover, it is possible to establish also a guest mode. Compounds can be easily prepared by WPS. The range of the hotspot is considerably higher than that of the Huawei E5372, which we used for comparison. It is important to remember that it is not a very recent model of the Huawei MiFi.

Conclusion:

The Netgear AirCard 810 is not cheap now at www.4gltemall.com. This is a device that has convinced functions during the test even after long hours of continuous operation and thanks to LTE Cat. 11, the technology dominates the near future. The MiFi is well made and is pocket-fit. If required, connect an external antenna.

The pity is the lack of GPRS and EDGE. Another criticism is the supported LTE frequency ranges. Although all common in Europe bands are covered, it lacks some LTE frequencies for the American market, so you may only use 3G network in American areas with the Aircard 810. But in all, the Aircard 810s is a very good mobile router to commend for travelling over the world.

Netgear Aircard 810 4G Mobile Hotspot Review

Mobile LTE hotspots are currently very popular and are increasingly replacing LTE sticks: The hotspots offer fast, comfortable internet access and can be used universally with all Wi-Fi enabled devices. The fastest mobile LTE router we has tested is Aircard 790, which have been able to reach around 300 Mbit/s downstream, based on LTE Category 6 technology. Here we have a new 4G mobile Hotspot announced, which offer significantly faster speeds than Netgear AC790S. Netgear has the AirCard 810 now, which is the world’s first hotspot to allow download up to 600 MBit/s.

World’s fastest LTE modem

The Netgear AirCard 810 hotspot has an integrated Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 modem, which supports LTE category 11 with speeds up to 600 Mbit/s downstream and up to 50 Mbit/s upstream. The high data rate is possible by triple channel bonding, up to 60 megahertz radio spectrum, the hotspot simultaneously also use in the downlink. In the test, only 2 x 20 MHz frequency was tested bundling. In the network of Vodafone, the speed could reach around 220 Mbit/s. In any case, the Netgear AirCard 810 is equipped for the future of the mobile Internet.

Package

In the package box, there is a small Quick Start Guide, a charger, USB Micro-USB port, the lithium-ion battery and AC adapter. And of course, there is the Netgear Aircard 810 hotspot.

Only UMTS and LTE, no GSM

Although Netgear AirCard 810 Hotspot has a very fast LTE modem, but deactivates the GSM function at the same time. The GSM/2G network for mobile surfing is anyway hardly or not suitable, but some users should miss the data services from GPRS and EDGE. Why Netgear has GSM-disabled is not entirely clear, for most users, the limitation of GSM network is probably due to successful UMTS and LTE network expansion.

Touchscreen operation

The Netgear AirCard 810 LTE router is equipped with a 2.4-inch touchscreen display, which will show important information for device status and can be also used for configuration like the predecessor Aircard 790. The display reacts quickly and reliably, and the menu system is easy to understand. Most functions can be selected via the display, only very few settings is needed to do via the web interface, which can be opened from any browser.

On the home screen, all the important information such as call duration, data volume and number of wireless users are displayed. On request, the wireless password will be displayed. The display brightness can be adjusted in three stages, as well as the duration of the illumination. Normally the display goes a few seconds after the last touch by itself, to save energy. A bright LED on the front shows the signals and the connection status on the display.

Dual Band WLAN with repeater function

Netgear AirCard 810 can provide an Internet connection for up to 15 devices simultaneously via WLAN. Another device can be connected via USB cable. The maximum LTE speed could be gained when connected computer supports USB 3.0. A suitable cable is supplied with the device; this is also used to recharge the battery simultaneously.

Netgear Aircard 810s sim slot

Netgear 810s uses a wireless modern dual band AC module that can spark both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The maximum speed is fast enough based on WLAN 802.11ac. The wireless transmission power can be controlled in three steps and convinced in the test by a good range. However, External wireless antennas were not connected, so that one is dependent on the integrated antennas in the device. On request, it is open for the user to create a guest Wi-Fi with a separate username and password.

Particularly impressive was the wireless repeater function in the test. This allows Internet access over existing wireless networks instead of cellular. So you can give the Netgear AirCard 810 as the wireless access from home DSL router or the hotel Wi-Fi and soon a known WLAN is within range, it will be used for Internet access. The function is particularly interesting for those users who do not have an unlimited data plan, but must extend the WiFi coverage range.

Netgear Aircard 810s Antenna connectors

Connectors for external LTE antenna

At the side of the Netgear Aircard 810, there are two TS-9 connectors available for external LTE antenna. The ports are each protected with a stable sliding mechanism against dust and dirt. Although the receive and transmit performance of the AirCard 810 is very good even without an external antenna, but particularly in the stationary use in fringe areas, such antenna of great advantage is also necessary at some time. Below is the external antenna for 4G LTE networks to recommend:

Powerful battery

The Netgear AirCard 810 battery is 2,970 mAh strong and provides an operating time of about 11 hours in the LTE network. If that is not sufficient, user can easily purchase one or more replacement batteries, because the battery is easily replaceable in seconds, which is a big advantage over many other LTE hotspots with permanently installed batteries. The Netgear AirCard 810 router even allows you to charge other mobile devices with built-in battery and the supplied adapter cable. This “Jump Boost” function allows the rapid reloading of a smartphone.

Netgear AirCard AC810S Mobile Hotspot

The Netgear AirCard AC810S Mobile Hotspot LTE is the first portable routers for LTE speeds up to 600 Mbit/s in the downlink. These high data rates are achieved by the use of LTE-Advanced category 11 triple Carrier aggregation, delivering up to 60 MHz of usable frequency spectrum. In Europe, the Netgear AC810S is not yet available. But it’s already available for network operator Sprint in USA and Telstra in Australia(named Telstra WiFi 4G Advanced III). At the MWC 2016 in Barcelona, there was the opportunity to test the mobile hotspot, we can check more details and many photos from the device.

The Aircard 810s could achieve up to 600 Mbit/s in the downlink – no other mobile LTE hotspot on the market could reach this speed currently. Depending on the configuration, the device can be operated at different speeds in LTE Cat11 mode or LTE mode CAT9. As we introduced before, the routers with LTE Cat6 (up to 300 Mbit/s download) is the fastest you could get (eg Netgear AirCard 790S ). This is the situation before Netgear Aircard 810s comes out. However, the grid operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland still do not allow higher speeds than 300 Mbit/s and can be upgraded on LTE CAT9 or LTE Cat11 in the course of 2016.

Upon request, the Netgear AirCard 810S Hotspot can be connect to an external antenna and LTE to improved for receiving data. The antenna connectors are on the side of the unit, which can be protected with a small cover when not in use. The power button is positioned On top of the router, so that the AC810S is switched on and off and the display on or off.

If you want to buy an external antenna for Netgear Aircard 810s, you can check below the indoor and outdoor antenna:

The Netgear AirCard 810S Hotspot battery allows an operating time of up to 11 hours in active mode or up to 260 hours in standby mode. The back can be taken off and the battery is replaceable easily by the user, so you can buy a second or third battery if required and travel several days without power supply. Furthermore there is the possibility to load external devices such as smartphones. Thus Netgear AC810S can be used as a so-called “Power Bank”.

The operation and configuration could be done via a large color touch screen on the front and two buttons on the side of the display. The entry is very fluid and intuitive, the menu is almost self-explanatory. The operation via a smartphone app is possible, then user does not need the Netgear AirCard 810S Hotspot in hand or take the briefcase, if you want to make an adjustment.

What’s more, the fast internet connection also arrives at the terminals, the Netgear Aircard AC810S supports WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Up to 15 devices can be connected to the router simultaneously. Before power on, a micro-SIM is required, the unit has no SIM lock and can be used with any provider.

The other vendors such as Huawei & ZTE haven’t released their LTE Cat11 mobile hotspots. So the netgear Aircard 810s would be the world’s first and fastest 4G Pocket WiFi router. Based the reliable 4G router and future-proof technology, Aircard 810s would be a great gadget for technology geeks!

Netgear Presented AirCard AC810S with LTE Cat11

Netgear has announced the first mobile hotspot AirCard AC810S with LTE Advanced category 11 at CES in Las Vegas. With LTE Cat11, the router reaches speeds of up to 600 megabits per second in the downlink, so that the device is twice as fast as the fastest development stage (category 6). Operation is carried out in a large color touch screen on the front, like the predecessor model Netgear AC790s.

In Europe, LTE Advanced Cat11 is currently not offered by any network operator, but Vodafone is planning the launch of LTE Advanced with more than 500 Mbit/s around mid-2016 and other network operators are sure to upgrade their networks accordingly. After the MWC in Barcelona , we suppose more terminals with LTE Cat11 or LTE cat12 will be coming onto the market.

Like older mobile LTE hotspots, Netgear sets the AC810S a comparatively very good quality. So the WLAN module supports dual-band operation on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and it also supports the fast WLAN 802.11ac. Up to 15 devices can be connected with Netgear AC810S simultaneously via WLAN for Internet connection. On request, you can set up multiple SSIDs (network names) for guests and visitors as well as for private use. If you are at location with weak signal, you can connect an external antenna to the Aircard 810s to improve. The antenna connectors in the Netgear AC810S are two TS-9 ports. If you want to buy an external antenna for Netgear Aircard 810s, you can check below the antenna: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-ts-9-connector.html

According to Netgear official site, the Netgear AC810S has a replaceable battery with capacity of 2930 mAh and the operating times of about 11 hours are possible for continued use. It comes with a so-called Jump Boost cable, which allows you to use the Netgear AirCard 810 hotspot to charge other devices such as smartphones and tablets.

LTE Cat11 with up to 600 MBit/s
The Netgear AC810S may take up to three 20 MHz wide frequency ranges bundle (Triple Carrier Aggregation). Depending on the configuration and frequency from the network operator, the Aircard 810s therefore could possibly reach up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the network providers would take the carrier aggregation at the frequency ranges of 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz and both the German Telekom and the provider Swisscom have already announced wanting to put Carrier Aggregation the future.

Netgear has not yet announced whether the AirCard AC810S router will come onto the market. Even for the price, there are so far no details. Probably the AC810S LTE router will be more expensive than its predecessor, the Netgear AC790S with LTE Advanced Cat6 (300 MBit/s) without a contract. For more details and a detailed data sheet can be found on the website www.4gltemall.com .
